Situated 1km above the  coastal village of Ahakista in a truly rural setting, Gorteanish offers unparallelled peace and quiet, an increasingly hard-to-find feature in today’s hectic pace of life.  Holidaymakers are assured of a relaxing and tranquil stay in this private and peaceful location.  Children are most welcome at Gorteanish - there is plenty scope both inside the house and in the grounds for little ones to explore and play.

Ahakista village with its two pubs, coffee shop/gallery, fishing pier and little sandy beaches has many locations of  archaeological and historical interest to be found locally.

Sheeps Head has long been a favourite of hill-walkers and orienteers and Gorteanish is ideally situated in the heart of this wonderful hill-walking countryside giving immediate access to a wide range of walking trails to suit all levels of hill-walking enthusiasts.  Water Sports, Biking, Fishing, Sailing are just some of the other pursuits available locally.
